Quart local authority has launched an initiative to restore an old brick factory and convert it into a Pottery Museum. The new museum is a cultural centre open to all whose mission is to help raise awareness and promote a local craft activity that goes back centuries: Quart pottery. The aim behind this initiative is to preserve a historic building and to establish a centre to help conserve and promote Quart's industrial heritage and to enable visitors to learn about the pottery-making from the first industrialised processes to the most modern technologies whilst fostering values linked to local tradition and culture. The local tradition for craft pottery-making is the main guiding thread through the history of Quart over the centuries. There is no doubt that this activity, whose history spans over seven hundred years has powerfully marked social, economic and cultural life in the township.
We hope that you will enjoy your visit to this museum, and that you will learn a lot about craft pottery-making in Quart, which forms a very important part of our town's heritage.
